Raboso IGT Veneto

What we like about this Raboso wine, which we have named “Genium” in memory of grandfather Eugenio, known to everyone as “Genio”, is the distinct acidity and tannicity of the grape variety. These characteristics made it one of the wines most marketed by the Serenissima, who called it “Vin da viajo” (travel wine), because it was not sensitive to mould, cold or even the passage of time. On the contrary, ageing refines the tannins while maintaining fullness of colour and aroma.

Name: “Genium” – Raboso Veneto IGT.
Production: Organic wine – Certificate IT BIO 004. Vegan wine.
Grapes: 100% Raboso del Piave.
Production area: City of Mansuè, locality Basalghelle.
Soil Type: Clay-Calcareous of alluvial origin.
Harvest: In the last 10 days of October.
Vilification: The grapes, harvest by hand, are softly pressed. After the maceration, the must ferments 13 days, or more, with indigenous yeasts. The cap is regularly plunged down or broken by hand. The malolactic fermentation follows. The wine ages in oak tonneau for 2/3 years.
Refinement: The wine refines in the bottles for 6 months.
Colour: Ruby red, purple shades.
Smell profile: Nose: it’s intensive, fruity, fragrance of red fruits red fruits, cherry, blue raspberry and spicy notes. In the mouth it’s dry, warm and roundness. The tannin is velvety and elegant. The wine in persistent.
Food pairing: Excellent with grilled meats, game meat, elaborate dishes and spicy cheese. Excellent meditation wine.
Alcohol: 12,5% vol. at the time of bottling.
Service Temp.: 18-20°C.
Production: Limited production, less then 2000 bottles in a year.
